For our next CitySpeak forum, Corvallis School Superintendent Ryan Noss and School Board Chair Sami Al-Abdrabbuh discuss education and student social dynamics amid a pandemic, they will also field questions from the public.
You can anticipate a candid conversation about their concerns for education in the current circumstances – both for children and teachers – and what’s been driving their decision-making.
The school district announced last month that it would employ a hybrid model for reopening this year, and that for at least the first six weeks, classes would be conducted remotely. Al-Abdrabbuh and Noss will reflect on how this new class environment might impact student learning and social dynamics . We’ll also delve into the district’s initiatives to continue offering services to underprivileged students.
The free live forum will appear on The Advocate’s website and Facebook page, beginning at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, August 25. Viewers will also be able to ask questions during the Q&A portion of the live event.
Questions for Abdrabbuh and Noss can be emailed to cityspeak@corvallisadvocate.com, or posted on The Advocate’s Facebook post of the event. After the livestream event, the video will be available on The Advocate’s website and social media.
CitySpeak forums are co-presented by City Club of Corvallis and The Corvallis Advocate, and sponsored by Peak Sports and First Alternative Natural Foods Co-op.
