Time: 7-9 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 22

Pick your issue: housing, transportation, public safety, the environment, taxes, services for seniors, mental health. Benton County faces them all. On September 22, the City Club of Corvallis will consider these and other concerns at an open public meeting with candidates for two seats on the county commission.

Running for position two on the commission are Xan Augerot (Democrat) and Jerry Jackson (Republican). Paul Cauthorn (Republican), Tim Dehne (Green Party) and incumbent Annabelle Jaramillo (Democrat) are contesting position three. Incumbent commissioner Anne Schuster is not up for re-election.

The meeting will offer candidates a chance to make a brief statement about their priorities and to respond to questions and concerns from the voters. Ed Weber, professor in the School of Public Policy at Oregon State University, will moderate.

Among topics to be discussed are earthquake preparedness, homelessness, mental health services and the adequacy of space for county offices and facilities.

The City Club meeting is free and open to the public. No registration is necessary.
